Therapy Animals of Utah (TAU) will be offering a Delta Society Pet Partners Training Course on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, UT. Team Screening/Evaluations

For individuals who have completed the Delta Society Pet Partner Training, Therapy Animals of Utah will hold Delta Society Team Screening/Evaluations on one or two Saturdays (TBA) in early/mid September at Avalon Valley Rehab and Care Center (2472 S. 300 East) - screening/evaluations take approximately 30-45 minutes and are by appointment. Delta Society AAT Applications for Professionals Course
Deborah Carr will be offering her AAT for professionals course Better Than Superglue - the Human-Animal Bond at the University of Utah Graduate School of Scoial Work Summer Institute on June 2, 2010. Go to the U of U Social Work website for details.

Continuing Education (Free of charge to members)


After the initial Delta Society training, you may forget a few of the details involved in actually visiting a facility and working with your animal. UAATA offers regular training topics to its members free of charge. Continuing education topics may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Appropriate uniform and attire for you and your animal
Animal-Assisted Therapy Appications for Healthcare and Social Service Professionals
What to carry in your gear bag
Animal calming signals
How to properly groom your animal
Dog and cat massage tips
Bedside visiting in a facility
How to properly approach clients in wheelchairs
Working with special populations, such as the elderly and children
Zoonosis
