EDUCATION & TRAINING

Delta Training Courses
UAATA offers three to four Delta Training Courses for potential animal/handler volunteers. These 8-hour courses are usually held in January, April and September. See the "Happening's" page for these dates.

Delta Team Evaluations
Team evaluations are held after completion of the eight hour . After the handler/animal team successfully pass this evaluation, they may submit paperwork to Delta Society to become certified Pet Partners. See the "Happening's" page for the dates of team evaluations.

AAT Applications I: Animal-Assisted Therapy for Healthcare Professionals. This Delta Society course is designed for healthcare professionals who would like to maximize the potential of animal-assisted therapy as a treatment modality. It will be offered to healthcare professionals at medical facilities throughout the year. See the "Happening's" page for these dates.

Continuing Education for Members
UAATA provides two workshops per year for members at no cost to increase their knowledge, skills and talents as volunteers as Pet Partner and Co-handlers in the field. See the "Happening's" page for information on continuing education.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

Interfaith Hospitality
UAATA volunteers visit the homeless families at the Unitarian Church several times a year.

Holiday Group Event
Every year UAATA schedules a group visit to a senior citizen facility during the holidays to share their animal's love, holiday treats and a visit from Santa and his "helper" (a white Samoyed named Tundra)

Group Visits
Occasionally we are asked by a facility to come out as a group for a special event. We bring several teams and socialize with clients providing as much "one on one" with our therapy animals as possible.

COMMUNITY AWARENESS

UAATA participates in many community awareness events and educational presentations to help educate the public about the availability and benefits of animal-assisted therapy

  • Memory Walk (Alzheimer's Association)
